As some have pointed out, we like what we learn from one gent, because he's serious, he's living mostly in his beautiful little piece of the Rockies, and would be fine there if he had to stay. Being a good guy though, he also spends the coldest months in Colorado, keeping in touch with the unreal world, and being on hand for his aging parents.
We laud AA both for his writing, in hopes it brings more people to realize what the world is becoming, but also for his background in edible wild plants. I learn some things, and eat them without fear, but I have a long way to go.
Anyone who hasn't, should consider talking to AD, unseenone, and the others at http://www.preparedham.com and learning more about local, mid range, and world wide radio communications than the plug & play cb Rambos will ever know.
There are people who'd be amazed that I made red beans & rice for dinner, because the rice wasn't instant, and the seasonings didn't come pre measured in a box or packet. I think the spinning, weaving, sewing, and knitting I do are handy skills, but I've been labeled a luddite for those.
It IS possible to walk the walk in some way, no matter where you live, how you make your living, or how on board (or not) your family or friends might be.
Take classes, learn odd things, do what you know you need to do.

#1DMH commented11-18-2013, 11:10 PMEditing a commentYes, I have been inspired from people on this forum to get out of my comfort zone and learn a new skill. You W.Lynn continue to keep doing what your doing, passing on those skills to whomever will listen and keep inspiring us!

#2Watchdog commented12-29-2013, 09:55 PMEditing a commentI too have been inspired. I did find all three books very interesting and they revealed a true weakness in our society. We have become dependent on the rapid availability of missing rations from the local 24 hour Kangaroo Mart. The readings have caused me to dig out all my camping gear, packs, Silva orienteering gear (had to get the spiders out of that bag). I must say, I really enjoy this web page and the information herein.
