Change of fiscal quarter, and various people with their fingers in different budgetary pies want the RP to: be in OKC for a currently undetermined number of days, possibly up to a week, take another week of Red Hat class, needful to keep up his wondeful RHCP, spend time in San Jose, CA. (He's not exactly thrilled with CA in general, or the TSA specifically, at least he can drive to OKC.) We have a grandson's sixth birthday happening in there too. Busy, busy.

The fun comes into play with it being HIM, former boyscout, the Reluctant Prepper. He sees why, he just doesn't want to, especially when it detracts from new toys. This buddy of his always has new toys, in hock to his eyeballs, and working his @zz off to keep up all the payments, but he has them! Too busy to get out and play, but, but, but ...

Kind of glad the RP rode his 'glide to work today, it's good for the soul.

I've put the idea in his head that I'd like to hit OKC with him, it's not like the company has to pay extra (in fact, they kind of approve, when wives are along, men are less likely to indulge in lawsuit-worthy behaviors, or activities that end up at the ER.)

And if I go, we might take one of OUR vehicles, so I can do as I like - I can't be on the rental if the company pays for it. Then again, if I go, there will be at least a case of drinking water, and other road-trip items. I suppose I could just be happy he's carrying a multitool these days, and doesn't fart around looking for new ways to get into trouble (he pretends to be incredibly square, most people buy it.)

On one extended trip up there, he almost came home with a used "short bus" - yellow paint job and all. He had project ideas that he finally admitted to himself he'd never follow through on. But he SO wanted to drive it to work one day, and reassure the guys at the home location that the other location would have to stop hiring the special needs folks to do high tech work - because he stole their ride. Yes, he is one twisted little SOB, one of the many things I love about him.

So travel prep - it could just be making the choice to go along, and taking the things I would take. And shutting the cats out of my bedroom so the bad one doesn't barf on the bed to punish us for being away.
