There are lots of comments about boating accidents in our segment of the population.
"No guns, boat turned over."
"No silver, gold, or emergency cash, boat turned over."
"No food storage, boat sank."
Sounds like the castle in the swamp, from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
"No boat, it burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp."
I'm tempted to get a canoe, just so I can teach people how to handle capsizing a small watercraft. (Hint, water is softer than boat parts, but rocks concealed by water are not.)
Canoes are actually pretty easy to handle, and tipping one does take a little effort. Even for me. It's easier to increase the load until water's coming in over the sides.
A coracle is much better for tipping, if you're determined to lose things in water. Try making several sizes and shapes, and build up a reputation for sinking your little boats. What better way to have a reputation for turning boats over, than to actually go out and do it a few times a year.

#2W.Lynn commented08-20-2013, 03:31 AMEditing a commentYou'd know more about that sort of event than I would. Around my place, we haven't got them fancy outdoor facilities, and we usually try to avoid structure fires (too much reloading supplies - and as much as I enjoy a good drink, we don't actually go through much, don't want Vinnie to have drive all the way here just to kick our ends, ya know. So that stuff would go up too.)
