                      • In some parts of the world, it is called 'survival' or 'bushcrafting' etc.
When we go out in the bush/wild for a couple of days, we only call it 'camping'.
These are some of the campfires for basic food preparation and a bit of philosophy at night apart for some protection from some wild critters at night.
                        We are very privileged..

                          • Yep, but we do not always have to carry everything to get to a very remote spot down here.
Sometimes you can do bundu bashing or 4x4 where there are no roads to some pretty lonely places and to then carry from the Jeep to the river or mountain ridge with a beautiful view are not that hard.
Still, being out on your own in nature miles and miles from any other human being does have its own appeal.
And then to 'rough it' for a couple of days is priceless.
You don't necessarily have to starve yourself half to death each time you go camping alone out there.
These semi-tame wild camps does teach [and hone] you a lot of valuable [survival?] skills also in a controlled manner for the times when you really have to go out there with the minimum of tools and gear.
It is sadly a way of life that is getting lost for a lot of the technology minded youngsters these days.
We are living in changing times....

                              • Observe, are you warming up enough there? Our cold temperatures came long before winter, and it doesn't "seem" anomolous, it just seems like winter. I know you should be getting near summer temperatures, but we aren't getting global weather reports.
