I injured my left hamstring about 3.5 months ago. I know how I did it, and it was stupidity on my part. It STILL hurts. I asked my doc about it and he says "yep, it's normal for it to last that long coz you're not laying around doing nothing". Well, laying around is out of the question so I've been trying to rehab it.

From what I have read on multiple sites/blogs is where the hams connect, there is very little blood flow which is essential to healing. I tried doing high rep squats, stiff legged deadlifts, foam rolling, and honestly none of them are really helping. The only thing that does help, at least immediately afterwards is heavy lifting. Sounds stupid right?

I have started to slowly work it again, increasing the weight by 5lb every time I squat. I can't lie, it doesn't feel good, lol. I am squatting about 1/8 of where I was and frankly it was a bit of a blow to my ego, and self esteem because it took me a really long time to get to where I was with my weight. I'll get there again I'm sure, but it will take a long time.

My deadlifts have suffered as well. The upside of it is my bench has gone up considerably which is great because that is my weakest lift. I guess there is a silver lining to the gray. Moral of this story is if you lift and figure out your form is off, DELOAD before trying to fix your form!!! Not only is it stupid to try using heavy weight with muscles that aren't used to it, but it hurts like dammit and puts you waaaaaay behind... Stay strong all....
