So this is one of the reasons for heavy handed customs and USDA protocols. The us has been very successful at keeping things like this out.
This virus has been a concern since long before I started college in the 80's. It is not a new issue. The issue now is immigration. Many diseases and pests have been introduced through lax customs and immigration enforcement. If it arrives, it will be through a deliberate attack or accidental in immigrants.
This is also the reason hog farms are so tightly regulated. You shower in and out. Your delivery vehicles are disinfected on arrival, etc. People hate confinement operations, but we have a much more secure food supply because of it.Comment
