If you haven't seen this movie yet, I can't recommend it enough. The movie stars Kevin Bacon, who plays a pencil pusher in the Marine Corps who feels somewhat guilty because he has had a comfortable and cushy job since the war on terror began over a decade ago. When he sees that a young Marine from his hometown has been killed in action, he asks to escort the body home to try and help fix some inner turmoil that he is dealing with due to guilt. On his trip though, he finds out just exactly what he and every other member of the US military are fighting for. He realizes just exactly how patriotic Americans really are when you get out among the real people.

I'm not one to write movie reviews, so I realize I can't do this movie justice. This movie is not an action flick. It's a true story that shows what Americans are really like. The Native always likes to buy copies of movies and if you do the same, I would highly suggest you watch the "Extras" after the movie is over. The back story is really cool. When you do watch this movie, I would recommend that you have a box of tissue handy. It doesn't get sad really, but there are parts that make you very proud to be an American and sometimes it gets pretty smokey.

If we cannot define a simple word like greatness, how can we ever hope to use it as a measuring stick to know when we have risen beyond average?

I remember when this movie came out on HBO. I was finally able to find it on Redbox a while later. It does indeed get a little smokey at times.
Myself having been in the Corps I will say that Kevin Bacon represented the service well in this movie. This one hit home for me in a big way.
