Tornadoes, Hurricanes, etc

I've read the first two of AA's books, starting the 3rd today.

and I've read other books of the type.

But, you know, during the midst of the upheaval and aftermath, there is never a tornado, or hurricane with the S has already hit the fan.

I'm in a tornado alley, and lots of high wind severe thunderstorms, so I would think this would have to be factored in.

Has anyone seen a book of this type with other than a snow storm in it?

Good question Angie. I will look back through my books. I am currently reading Life After War and that does have natural disasters in it, but the book is a very different survival story. It is not like AA's books or the Deep Winter series which I loved.

"Deep Winter Series" reminds me a bit of AA's books as there is family, and neighbors turning on each other, etc. And it has the snow, and I think a small earthquake, been a bit since I read them all.

IIRC, Deep Winter had snow and a volcanic eruption, with about 1/2 of Washington state being covered in mudslide and lava flow.

I've seen 299 days in Washington State, The HOME series here in Lake County, the Out of gas series by Randy Dyess in Texas and Oklahoma, Triple Ought by J.W. Rawles in Idaho and Utah.

The only thing I've seen that comes close to what you describe is when a tornado strikes in southern Illinois in the first season of Revolution after Danny is kidnapped by the Munroe Republic.

There's your guide. Years after the collapse, a tornado strikes a town or whatever. No EMS, fire, police or whatever. No CNN to cover the tragedy on national television, no outside aid...

When I started this, I was thinking about Sarge and the guys in the swamp area - what would they have done should a hurricane come calling? He might know about it from the ham radio, or his military radio connections, but not a weather channel.

Or I'm in the beginning of book three, and the camp. What if a storm came thru and wiped out part of the camp and the fences? That would let the captives find a way out and the rebels find a way in to do damage.

I do understand that for the books to continue, there has to be survivable weather. I think sideways some of the time, and get questions like this. (and since there are writers around here, it may give them a gem of an idea to incorporate into a story.)

How do you know about the Villages? I needed a jumpstart once not too long ago up there, and I asked a mean old bastard, and he had the nerve to say the following:

Mentally ill old bastard: "You lazy good for nothing. I never needed help from nobody in my life, I had to work twelve hours a day, away from my wife and kids for years. Why don't you go get a job?!?!"

If he were to have a stroke or coronary event in the future, and I were passing by, I would only meekly say help, ambulance? In a quiet voice, just to say I tried to get his ass help

And that's my essay on why I hate old people in the villages.
