Allegedly developed by the U.S. and Israel, the complex virus infected the computer system that ran the centrifuges. Slight tweaks to the software caused hundreds of the centrifuges to self-destruct, setting the program back years. The malware was dubbed Stuxnet."

This would include the powergrid and other critical infrastructure. The future is here, it's simply a matter of time before some loon acts.

We are past the point of needing a tangled power grid. With most homes, independent power or at least neighborhood co-generation should be viable alternatives. Then again, if you try to leave the grid, you will be hunted down and killed.

And they wonder why we Prep.... This is one of my biggest real scenarios of why USA could be sent back to the 16th century. Not enough money or time to get ready for it either. We could wake up tomorrow and find ourselves in Morgan's world.

I am trying to rebuild my solar system had a small one and sold it to one of my best friends who had been living on a sailboat. Could run a small freezer and battery chargers. In 2004 durring the 5 hurricanes we had, after the 2nd week I was freezing drinking water in 2-liter bottles and trading it for gas, deep cycle batteries, etc... I could not make enough of this ice fast enough! So this time around one freezer is just going to be for making ICE-I was able to trade the ICE foe just about anything/everything! I want to be able to do this again as I gave the neighbors free water and ice and they used my radios and helped keep an eye out on our neighborhood. Having extra people want to help keep their water and ICE comming was well worth the extra power to make it as you can't keep security up by yourself. We made it through the 6 weeks in 2004 with very little problems. The one problem was taken care of before it could become a problem- with 5 to 6 neighbors having radios and having a cheat sheet to call us(radio always on) we knew a group of 13 people comming through and ran upon us all cleaning our guns(25 adults). With the outside motion sensors on solar backup this group just went on their way!
