has anyone used Google Earth to look at the maps of the FEMA camp site or other sites from the books?

I never have. I've been through the general area quite a bit, but when it comes to fictional stories, I just let my imagination draw the pictures.

If we cannot define a simple word like greatness, how can we ever hope to use it as a measuring stick to know when we have risen beyond average?

There's several brass placards at each major point on Morgans Trail put up by the Lake County commerce commission as historical sites. Just google Morgan's Trail Lake County Florida. You're still walking free. Enjoy it while you can.

Plane crash and eating one's besties has been done, "Alive: the story of the Andes survivors" (kind of gruesome in a few spots, not for everyone. )Last edited by W.Lynn; 05-18-2014, 12:37 PM. Reason: If you need a little toilet humor, it DOES have an episode of poo-flinging in it.quam minimum credula postero

Im a Geography/GIS major and will be taking an advance cartography class in the fall and I am sure there will be a Thematic Map project. I'll have to re-read book one, but making some type of a map of their trip might home might be cool. Maybe try to prove or disprove a person could hike the distance in the time frame they did? I will have to add some type of science to why i'm making such a map and the map will have to answer a question. Hmm, got me thinking now.
Was there any real research on if the hike could be done in the time frame? I think about this hike all the time since I do drive some distance back and forth to work every day."You have been baptized in fire and blood and have come out steel!!!"

You could make the trip here in Florida easily. Most of it is flat land, and the highest point in lake county is about two miles from where I'm sitting right now (I'm at Lowes waiting for an order) about 300 feet called Sugarloaf Mountain.
A good portion of the trip was via land accessable areas, off dirt roads and US 27. But I wouldn't recommend the lakes unless you're impervious to gator bites and fluke worms.
The trip could have gone faster, but Morgan didn't want to die or anything from lead poisoning. You're still walking free. Enjoy it while you can.
