Some people plan to do P90X or whatever other exercise, others choose a number of pounds, bike a certain number of miles a week, or make a decision to get in the fruits and vegetables they should be eating.

I know someone who actually took on most of that list, lost a lot of weight, and currently controls his diabetes through diet alone. No, it's not the triple-bypass patient I gave a ride home to, from four towns out of my way, to eight towns away, who claims to love salads, but buys into the "but whole grain products are good!" theme as an excuse to tank up on breads, pastas, etc.

Say it with me mouseketeers, "ANY processed carbs will make your blood glucose spike unnecessarily!"

Even if it's a little better, you don't get a pass. If your body has to work harder to fight off the effect of a whole-wheat pasta meal, that's effort it can't put into something else, like all those little corrections that are needed when you sleep.

Eat the salads. Tell people you're going Paleo (then "dress for dinner" in a caveman costume for laughs.) Whatever works for you. Your pancreas is probably begging for a break.

My goals? I want to be able to pass the flight physical, not sure when.

Haven't decided on a ground school/flight school yet. (Have I mentioned I like having something to work toward?)

Any tips concerning the flight physical can be posted in the comments.
