  • African swine virus

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large, double-stranded DNA virus in the Asfarviridae family. It is the causative agent of African swine fever (ASF). ... ASFV is endemic to sub-Saharan Africa and exists in the wild through a cycle of infection between ticks and wild pigs, bushpigs, and warthogs.
What is African swine fever? African swine fever (ASF) is a serious viral disease of pigs that can cause fever, internal bleeding and high death rates. It is highly contagious and can spread rapidly through both direct and indirect contact with infected pigs or pig products. This pig ebola , has it got the ability to jump to people ?????

It should not jump to humans, but this is why we have to have the tight import regs. Fermented or raw pork products can bring it into the US. If it ever got started in the wild hog population, you would have depopulated massive areas of all susceptible species.

It's spread so fast it seems , if those over seas smuggles it here we're in deep sh/t . The hog farmers that run here are very careful about what comes and goes in those areas it would be a hold out but in time all things have a hole in the wall .
