After the last couple of hatching we were out of balance and had way too many drakes. They were wearing the hens out and in a couple of instances injuring them to the point we had to place them in the infirmary to heal up. My wife will not allow me to butcher them and giving them away to someone who wont eat them is near impossible. Our only choice was to segregate them. I repurposed a small pole building, gutting it and then building some walls and a couple of doors(I love my Kreg pocket screw jig but thats another post) then put about 3" of sand for easy cleanup. I used a lot of material I had laying around waiting to get eaten by insects. So what we ended up with was a waterfowl bachelor pad or as I named it "Casa de los Patos Macho". They aren't exactly trilled about it but the hens are more relaxed than they've been in a while and everyone is safe.
