  • So why did she die?

Authorities in Belize said Friday they are investigating the suspicious death of an American news executive who was vacationing in a town near the Guatemala border.

Swaney’s body was located face down in the river Friday morning, police said. Injuries to her head and bruises around the neck have authorities treating the death as a homicide.
There are no true 'safe spaces' out there. That is especially true in the third world. People get away with going it alone by chance alone. However, the more a person exposes themselves to risk like that, the more probable a bad outcome becomes. It's not just women either, but a lone women adds another degree of probability to the mix.

An animal(s) with a murderous or similar intent doesn't care about PC, safe spaces, or equal rights. They too judge probability in their head. If the situation is judged by them to be a low probability of getting caught with a high probability of success for their nefarious intent, your number is up.

All the PC indignation in the world cannot bring back the dead.

She was part of the media machine - probably had something on somebody.

Or maybe we're about to see a rash of media deaths, like we sometimes see of banker deaths?

Could be. Given the circumstances, I am leaning towards a crime of opportunity. An opportunity presented by someone that forgot where they were at.
