  • EDPara and the EDCap

The EDPara (IE; EveryDay Paracord bracelet) is something special. Normally you have just a paracord and buckle and that would be it. I've dumped a few more goodies into this and am beginning to ramp up production. (Made in the USA by a gimp at a kitchen table)

The EDPara has 12 feet of paracord in it, plus an SNR whistle, compass, P-38 can opener and ferrocerium rod.
Over the next couple weeks, I will have built a few hundred starter stock for, but I also want to give a couple away.

On to the EDCap (EveryDay Cap)

The prototype has gone to mark II under a provisional patent. I still have ten months to improve this thing before filing a full utility patent. I am no longer working with Mr. Sutus or his agency due to a serious level of malfeasance and breach of trust. I am going the process alone with a patent attorney to do all the fancy legaleze and wording.

Since I don't have the full production process down yet (again, working on the kitchen table) I can only take down notes and ideas of how the manufacture process will take shape. I'm working with a local seamstress by the name of Donna (nice old gal) who has put together the pockets for the mark II EDCap.

When I get back later I'll post some nice pictures of the mark II EDCap prototype.

    Changes that have been made:
The headlamp under the bill has been waterproofed with EVA foam.
The switch for the electronics has been changed from a sliding switch to a latch contact switch.
The battery compartment has been placed under the crown, made flatter and the two batteries are flatter CR-2032s
Instead of using the older 3mm LED, I'm now using a brighter 5mm LED. While this uses more power, the use of two flat packed CR2032s makes the headlamp last 45 hours.
The bill now has a slender profile.
The pockets now have more flexible double stitching.
The two rear pockets have been merged into one large pocket and has a flap to keep larger slippery items from falling out.
The paracord bandolier buckles have been changed from 5/8 to 3/4 to allow easier removal of the paracord.
You're still walking free. Enjoy it while you can.

Ok. As promised, here are some pictures of the EDCap. Since it's not ready for primetime, the cap won't get the fancy photoshoot treatment like the EDPara did.

Sidepockets out (BTW, they make great earmuffs in the winter)

You should talk to jag06 and see if he can run them in his on line store for a time .

I'm actually trying to build a storefront myself, but having someone handle extra distribution and sales couldn't hurt. I'll see if I can pull him away from hauling nerf gun toting crackheads off in his ambulance for a few minutes.

I'm actually cleaning the cobwebs out of my head and firing up MS Frontpage 97, using workarounds to simulate web 2.0 but using 1997 technology. For the full sales end, I'm going to ues ETSY so I can accept credit cards and paypal.

Let me get things up on my end and I'll ship some out. No sense in having minimal stock then suddenly being overrun.

Have you looked at www.wordpress.com many free themes and they have ecommerence plugins. WP is what I am using on www.preparedham.com

Its way easier than Front page and more versatile.

Do you have a domian and hosting yet?

Didn't do that yet. Haven't decided on hosting, but I'm leaning towards GoDaddy. I might give Wordpress a once over.

I believe I may have found a new site for shooting. Ran into an old friend, now its just sync'ing schedules. He has a thrower for trap and - I believe - a well built range for short and long arms. Now if I could convince him to host a BBQ... naw, that ain't gonna happen.

Well, it was an interesting thread.

If we cannot define a simple word like greatness, how can we ever hope to use it as a measuring stick to know when we have risen beyond average?
