Hey, if you don't like redone titles, here are:

Almost Home
Nearly Home

If you want less chipper and more gritty, then:

Smashed Home
Razed Home
Gutted Home (maybe not)
Ransacked Home

For more of a family theme:

Family Home
Defending Home
Fortifying Home or Uparmored Home, even Home is a Castle (not so subtly pro- stand your ground/castle doctrine.)

And no, I didn't check any of them.

Call me crazy ---- but what's the fascination with HOME ?? Nothing about it resembles what the HOME was before - except for the walls and doors.
I would vote for something that would lend itself to more sequels...

OK, a little less in your face than my last suggestion. Didn't these guys just have a Home Run? Not the baseball kind, but like making a run to the ABC (its a Southern thing, y'all wouldn't understand). They made a run home (hey: "Run Home!") and then where do they go and do?

Going Home, Again

Home Again, Naturally. I mean, running naked through the property! I'm shocked.

BTW, I was misremembering an old song title when I thought of the "naturally" part. Gilbert O'Sullivan. Kind of wish I hadn't opened up that neuro-path.

Another vote for Reclaiming Home or Rebuilding Home.

focus on them working on doing what they need in the neighborhood to become self sufficient and deal with some groups of raiders that would still be out there.

Bring back some of the neighbors like Taylor's friend Rene and her parents who have a new view on taking care of themselves and working in a community.

As Richard approaches the bar, the match burns down and singes his whiskers causing him to drop the match. It is mere inches from the pooling flammable liquid.

The frog see's what is about to happen and in a instant whips out his "hose" and seconds before the whiskey ignites he pisses on the match saving the valuable Canadian Whiskey.

In the confusion he also almost drowns Richard, who is on the floor with a smile on his face. Just then the tranny wakes up and says.........

"Way cool man" "But whats with this pissing frog"? "Who's frog is this"?

The tranny staggers up, adjusts it crotch and scratches its ass giving Sarge a toothy smile and a come hither look. "This your frog", he asked Sarge? " Hmm, I like gerbils..too" as it winks at Sarge.

Just then, they hear the unmistakable sound of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. It gets louder and louder. Everyone in the bar just looked at each other as the bike makes it's way into the bar, carrying a crusty looking guy in the saddle with his face covered.
"What's with the veil, princess?" asked Sarge. "You here looking for Prince Charming?"
"It's not a veil, asswipe, its called a shemagh. It keeps sand and other shit out of my face. You got a problem with that old man?"
With those words, the rest of the crew in the bar started looking for an escape route. Well, everyone but Terri the Tranny, who was now behind the the counter spaying him/herself down with Mountain Dew, trying to cool off some of the hotter spots.

"Old man!?" roared Sarge. "I'll show you Old Man you little puke!". As Sarge rushed the stranger, the stranger surprised everyone by grabbing Sarge in a bear hug, squeezing him tight, effectively immobilizing him. He then kissed Sarge on the cheek and said "Hi there. I'm Jeff Collins. How ya doing?"
At this, Sarge exploded with every cuss word in the English language, and a good number that weren't.
Jeff started laughing as he let the red faced Sarge go. "Let's start over. Can I buy you a beer?"

....."Let's start over. Can I buy you a beer?"

Sarge yells "Buy me a beer? Over there you've got a man in a bearskin, a frog with a two foot pecker, and what is literally a flaming homosexual in that corner covering himself in Mountain Dew! You think I want something to drink from here?!?! You probably put something in it an' it ain't even opened yet!"

The man in the bearskin picks up the jar of peanut butter off the bar and tells Meathead to follow him outside.

"I'm gonna go play fetch with Meathead. Wanna tag along, Sarge?"......

Jeff says "Ride? Where are you parked? I'm the last one here and there wasn't any ve-hicles outside this joint."

"Them two idjits that were supposed to be watching my six must've bailed and gone joy riding with my buggy. Dipshits are probably down at that toad titty bar I saw on my way here. How the hell two grown men can find toad titties exciting is beyond me. Anyone wanna hike down there with me and watch an old fashioned ass kicking?"

Morgan, Jeff and Chris all decided to go with Sarge. Terri was still smoldering inside, and no one invited him. Thad the Cat hopped up on Meathead's back and laid down between his shoulder blades, obviously feeling too important to walk the mile on his own feet. Although annoyed with Thad, Meathead decided that it was better than his original plan of eating peanut butter, so he just went with the program and followed the four men.

About half way to their destination, they passed a young girl carrying a basket, dressed all in red, heading the other direction. Chris warned her that there was nothing behind them except for the run down dive that they just left.
"I know" said the girl. "I'm s'posed to go get my uncle Terri and bring him home for dinner."
"Well, watch yourself, Red" warned Sarge. "I hear that there's some real sick folks around here that would love to meet a young girl like you."
"Thanks mister, but I've got this" she said, as she pulled a Glock out of her basket. Morgan and his friends all side stepped past the girl and continued on the way.
After about 10 more minutes of walking, the group came to the mostly empty parking lot of Frog's Topless Toad Bar. However, right up next to the entrance was Sarge's buggy.
Sarge started walking a lot faster towards the entrance. The others in the group really had to hustle just to keep up. Sarge burst through the door and roared....

Sarge burst through the door and roared.... 'what in the hell are you dumb asses doing in a toad titty bar? who's supposed to be watching my six?'...the whole bar went quiet...the toads quit dancing...the patrons froze...

Suddenly, a girl in the corner pulled out a sawed off shotgun and took a shot at the nearest toad. The toad was totally focused on the angry men at the door. Blasted into oblivion w/ not even a decent frog leg left for cooking...the toad exploded all over the formerly excited audience.

At the sound of the blast, ...the other semi-naked toads sprang from the stage into the crowd causing the patrons to come to life. Melee insued. Sarge bellowed out a command....

Finished it AA . Another excellent job. Gave my review to Amazon also. As I read posts this morning I see you will be keeping up the good work. TFK

Just looked at my reviews on Amazon to see if mine made it there. I didn't see a place to check paper back or kindle not that it matters but my review said kindle edition ? But what I did see was some Jag off's review on there. But after looking at his review history He must get his rocks off by giving everything a bad review. A whole lot of 5 stars there AA.

Dads name is Gene
Mom's name is Anna
They took the first two letters of dad's name and the last two letters of mom's name. Pretty cool thinkin but I never could find any of the cool little things when I was young with my name spelled correct. No license plates for my bike, no key chains ...no nuthin with my name printed on it until this book.

If your happy and ya know it clap your hands....if your happy and you know stomp your feet....

My first post in these forums so my apologies for the length. Just finished book 5 and I have to say I'm fairly well impressed with the storyline overall across these books. I especially appreciate how these books grab the different points of view from looters to survivors to victims (harsh word but this is what they make themselves) and bring out the moral and philosophical pieces of those characters to help define in plain terms anyone can understand why they do what they do.

It's hard for a lot of people to really grab on to how utterly dependent they and others make themselves on the government or those around them because they are unwittingly part of that group themselves and lack the perspective to realize it. It is also hard for those in a self-reliance mindset to see things from the perspective of someone who never got the wake up call that the world around them will only truly reward them for what they put in. This is (IMHO) in large part because we are living in a society so bent on their personal sense of entitlement that they can't separate themselves from the crowd long enough to see they are refusing to take ownership of and responsibility for their own lives.

A lot of people want to believe that they can get all of the benefits for none of the work and as thermodynamics proves every day if the energy going into the system is less than the energy coming out, the system will eventually stop. These books seem to me to be written so that these ideas are clearly expressed in terms anyone can understand to allow them to see the perspective of someone who wants to own their future, not just ride along where the hand feeding them wants them to go.

These books seem written both for people already in the survival mindset and for those who would never have thought this way on their own. I have heard comparisons of these books to those written by Rawles, Forstchen, Heinlein and Rand and it seems that AA is much closer to Forstchen and Heinlein with a bit of Rand as he is trying to put out both a wake up call and the idea that in all things you need to think for yourself and own your actions, or lack of, and their consequences.

Rawles characters seem rigid and inflexible in their approaches to situations while AA's characters bring the idea that many solutions could/will work (and some wont) but that you don't stop with suggestions you are handed from a manual, you have to keep going until you find a solution that works and own the results good or bad.

Who the hell is running Crystal River?

It just occurred to me that the CRNP is about fifty miles from Ocala in Citrus. If that went boom somehow, that may be the cause of the multi-county forest fire.

Pre-EMP it wouldn't have any problems, but afterwards the rods could have gone out of control without the aid of computer monitoring or a running diesel generator.

corsecusn
01-24-2015, 12:15 PM
Yeah but CR is just pressurized water and is shut down. Pressurized water are inherently stable due to thermal density changes in the water so an EMP wouldn't really do much to it while it's shut down, that's why the Navy uses them. Even if it was operating the control mechanisms are designed to scram on a total control power loss and shut it down. Now the coal fired boilers may be a different story....

So I finally finished book 5. I had read what I thought was all of it downstairs and picked up the book at Barnes and noble a couple months ago. I finally had some time yesterday to kick back and nock it out, finished it this morning. Found out that I had not read all of it, only about 2/3rds of the book, which was a very pleasant surprise. Wow, of all the books, I think outside of the first one this is now my favorite. So much going on, was a great read. You can tell AA is getting the hang of this "writing" thing, it almost looked like he knew what he was doing. Can't wait for book 6 now, hurry it up AA!
