  • Capper's Farmer anyone?

Friends of the family who I've known since before I was even born (seriously) came to visit this past weekend. They live in the Shenandoah Valley, and her father grew up in a farming family. He sends her his old Capper's Farmer (Practical Advice for the Homemade Life - Since the 1890s) magazines after he has finished with them, and she brought one to me.

I LOVE this magazine! I ordered a subscription and received the first one today. Here are some of the topics discussed in this edition:

Take the Kitchen Outside - Grilling, Smoking and Campfire Cooking
How to Keep Your House Cool without A.C.!
Summer Gardening - 13 Ways to Beat the Heat
Best Chicken Breeds for a Backyard Flock
    Vinegar - A Poultry Keeper's Best Friend
    Be Your Own Coffee Roaster

Just wanted to share. I had never heard of it before.

Awesome! Love that kind of stuff. Is it regional specific?

      Ahhh, the online version!

I knew I heard of this before. It was in some long forgotten bookmark!

You're still walking free. Enjoy it while you can.

I don't think it is regional specific...at least not so I've noticed. They may have articles that are more region specific.

I just noticed one down here in the local dollar general store-looked interesting. Now I'll have to pick up a copy.
