    Saw this on Clash Daily

A video camera captured the moment when a garbage collector in Oregon salvaged an American flag that he found on top of a trash bin.

The man stopped what he was doing to fold up the flag properly, the way he learned in the Boy Scouts, and then left it at the door of the house.

A neighbor found out about the patriotic gesture and sent a thank you note to the trash company; the video was from the camera mounted on the truck and has gone viral.

We salute this young man’s not-so-common patriotism!

So many of us learn as kids, at least a small part of what our flag has meant over the years, and the history of it. So few actually do the right things.

Tip: If you have one that is beyond recognition, found in Grandma's attic, or basement, or rescued from some idjit clearing out a storage locker, and don't want to do it yourself, contact the nearest VFW or active duty military friend, and ask them to take it for the respectful cremation that retired flags receive.

Ditto what Wendy said. Our American Legion has a flag ceremony once a year. When we were in Scouts we would put a notice in the paper and church bulletins and the Scouts would collect the flags and get to participate in the ceremony.
